You Can't Make This Stuff Up
Can the Twinkie defense be far behind? Scooter Libby has hired a memory loss expert to assist in his defense. The ostensible plan? Libby's Dream Team may claim the Great American Hero was so busy with important double supersecret background stuff, he was suffering a form of amnesia when he talked to the FBI and testified before the grand jury. So Scooter didn't lie. He misremembered.
It was never personal, Michael. It was always business. Turns out W's aides have substantial biz ties to the Arab firm greenlighted to run six US ports. Two officials with links to both the Dubai company and the ports deal are TreasSec John Snow and David Sanborn, recently tapped by Bush to head the US Maritime Administration. Also, the Bush family has profited from its UAE connections for years, and Neil Bush, W's brother, reportedly has received funding for his educational software company from a syndicate of UAE investors.

Politics do make strange bedfellows. Republican Congressman Christopher Shays (R-CT) has personally endorsed Joe "Joementum" Lieberman, Connecticut's pseudo-Democratic US senator and ardent supporter of Bush's Iraq policies, for reelection.
Looks like Team Bush stepped in a steaming pile--again. Controversy intensified over the administration's approval of Dubai Ports World's takeover of the operation of six US ports when media and lawmakers learned the company participates in a long-standing Arab boycott of Israel.
Truthiness in right-wing punditry. Tucker Carlson, the boyish, bow-tied MSNBC pundit who's been bashing Patrick Fitzergerald over his dogged pursuit of Cheney chief of staff Scooter Libby in the Plame affair, neglected to inform viewers that his father, Richard Carlson, is a charter member of the Libby Legal Defense Fund. Tucker's dad even couriered a check over to the Great American Hero's house the morning of his indictment on five felonies.
